Masters Project
This final project is the culmination of my two years’ study on the MA Ceramics course at Staffordshire University. This collection explores the making process, and the choices and responsibilities incumbent within it from the materials we choose to use, to the decision how to glaze and fire the work, or whether to fire at all. I aim to explore states of completion and finality, and consider permanence and transience in the ceramic pieces I produce. Energy consumption and its environmental and economic costs is an ever-present issue in every production context, and the decisions we make to balance these implications with the value and importance of an object is at the heart of my practice.
